Roof restorations are a very different process than roof replacements. Especially when it comes to historical buildings, it is important to hire a roofing contractor who understands the difference and has experience working on older roofs.
Roof Restoration vs. Replacement
A roof replacement involves completely replacing a roof’s materials and reinstalling new ones.
Roof restorations, on the other hand, involve simply repairing or patching the parts of roof that have sustained damaged overtime due to wear and tear, wind, rain, etc. Restoring a roof can extend the roof’s lifespan and is a great option for protected historic building roofs that need to keep the same look and feel.
Roof Restoration Completed by Davidoff Roofing
Currently we are doing a historic restoration on a building in downtown London, On. On the right, we are tearing off slate that is approximately 100 years old. On the left we are installing Certainteed Carriage House and Grand Manor shingles to replicate the look of the original slate. This has been approved by The Ontario Historical Society and we think they’ll be happy with the result!
